Visibility Enabled
The Vehnet concept is to extend visibility both OF the yard and TO the yard, wherever possible. For inbound flows, the yard benefits from advanced bookings so that labour and resources can be planned and optimised. The advantage for carriers is the ability to book a convenient, time-saving slot. For outbound flows, the requirements for transport can be published, so that carrier arrival and dock allocations are synchronised. Workflow-Centric
The Vehnet Advanced Workflow Engine is where your best-practice business process and business rules are hosted. The Workflow Engine monitors the state of all entities in play, such as the dock and yard locations, the tugs, yard and dock personnel. Integration Ready

Software
Vehnet software is based upon a Microsoft .NET development environment, built on a CSLA framework, running under .Net in an n-tier design. Our primary database is Microsoft SQL Server 2008.
Integration
A full SOA (Service Orientated Architecture) underlies the product. In addition a wide range of integration formats are available as standard including fixed length, CSV, MQ Series, web services, XML. Message standards such as ANSI X12 and Odette are supported. Our Integration Services team is skilled and experienced, and can advise on the options for integration.
Hardware and Infrastructure
Whether hosting in-house or externally, all hardware and infrastructure requirements are carefully assessed by our Infrastructure Services team, working with you and taking account of your existing infrastructure, preferences, expected system usage and volumes. We are brand neutral where servers, PC’s and infrastructure are concerned. (For mobile equipment we make brand and model suggestions since customers may not have experience of purchasing this class of equipment).
Installations can range from a simple yard, running only from mobile handhelds communicating over the mobile telephone network, to a local service, with WLAN for mobile users and LAN for PC users, to a WLAN high-availability clustered virtualised environment.
Processes
The variability of processes in the yard space is almost boundless. In many cases the reason for different processes is historic, driven by physical site conditions, the needs of another system, or one of a range of other possible reasons.
